I've come to love the time I spend working in my realm, finding new ways to recruit people, making new friends, and planning events.  Lately, Bele-life has had to take a back seat to real life.  Real life is a pain in the ass.  I am currently in training to become a banker for the 4th largest bank in the world right now and have been doing nothing but studying for a series ofexams my job depends on for the last month and a half.

  Last Sunday, we moved Wolfpack back to ISU's quad.  It went very well.  Lupus, a new member last year, is an RA now and brought what looked to me like half of his dorm floor.  Thanks to Sir Morpheus, Sir Fox, Squire Keichii, and Mekoot Davit we have a new stockpile of Loaner weapons and sheilds.  I was amazed when Sir Morpheus showed up with them.  They look great, and for once I wouldn't mind using the noob gear.  Hell it looks better than some peoples standard.

  Sir Fox and Sir Kyrian have their training program that should go into effect next Sunday.  As a work in progress, I believe this will be an essential recruitment and retention tool.  Like every new thing, there are some things to work on and build towards but I believe that they are headed in the right direction.  I can't wait until we get it off the ground.

  Last but not least, a Warlord's work is never done.  While juggling a full time job at Chase, which I drive to Peoria every day in order to work, I also am the current Warlord.  I am working on getting ISU to let us use the Horton Field house again for the Wolfpack Season Opener so we can set a date pleanty of time in advance for people to get off from work, trying to secure a winter fighting place, get advertisements printed out, get my student appointed representitives their jobs and get them communicating with our new RSO Faculty Advisor to name a few.

  My life is just so busy right now, I need a second to step back and breath.  Sometimes I wish Belegarth could be real life, it would make things a lot more simple.  Oh well, these are the rants of a souless ginger kid and with that, I leave you to your thoughts.

I tried using the rules script to explain the rules to people trying swordfighting out for the first time but it ended up being way too long, too boring, and too wordy. It's in dire need of revisions...

The best way to fuck yourself is to fear.

The easiest way to allow yourself to become apathetic is to talk yourself out of being responsible.

avatar I got news, but not a whole lot. I live in Nashville now, so don't look for me around H-Vegas. Sorry kids, but it was necessary for several reasons. I've got three jobs, one at Super Shammy, one at Reddish Blink, and one at Regal Cinemas. I found out recently that I most likely have Hyperthyroidism and/or Grave's Disease. I get all my testing finished up tomorrow afternoon, but either way something's up. I'm not too jazzed about it, but if I have either of them I've had them for awhile. So, cross your fingers for me, boys and girls, and lets hope it's the less severe of the two and that I don't need thyroid surgery. Other than that, no news.

Take care. Don't get shot

avatar Today, I discovered a little about how hard being a realm leader is, but also how easy it can be at times.  At practice today, we had approximately six new people all show up, and it was a blast fighting with them.  Some of them, as fighters, need work, but it is so awesome to see that at least everybody who hadn't ever fought in something like this is at least trying.  I'veseen people try it and never come back; I've also seen people who never thought they would like something like dagorhir or belegarth try it and right off, they get hooked.  Whether it be the role-play (dagorhir) or the physicality (belegarth), I have come to the conclusion that, just like real-life, mundane businesses, you have to cater to everyone's needs, not just one particular group or person.  I've also discovered that, when you first start out, you need to do the same things that you would do with a campfire--you have to keep it fueled in order to last.  In running a realm, you have to keep people's enthusiasm going, or they won't come back.  But I honestly feel that, eventually, the hard work and dedication will be worth it.  Especially going to events like Ragnarok, Chaos Wars, EQ, Badon Hill, etc., when you see hundreds of people lining up to full-out fight, or at night seeing something like all the tiki-torches at Rag.  In those kinds of moments, they happen and I honestly believe that things like that make it all worth it.  And I already know that Dagorhir (and Belegarth, I hope, in the future) has given me something that nothing else in this life could have--the chance to meet people, fight them, fight with them, drink with them--basically, to create a bond that everyone who looks down on us for what we do can never share in or experience: the chance to get away from mundane life, create bonds with people we would have never otherwise have met, and the chance to create memories, that when we all become old and gray, we will look back on these days in our lives and say that, if given the chance, we would do them all over again with no regrets.  That, to me, is truly what foamfighting and role-playing are about.

Rest today.  It is easy to overtrain.  It takes discipline to eat right and recover.  With all the rain it makes it a good day to recover, also.

Run three miles on the track

Row four kilometers

Run three more miles outside on the trail

 Simple, but brutal

avatar If you compete when you fight, you should know that the fight is not about your ego. It is a spiritual endeavor. You are fighting to attain something higher than your present self. If you lose in a one-on-one tournament, it means that the other person was better than you, and you were destined to lose. So you Should lose. And you will become greater because of it. ;
